Walk with Leslie

Hi! Welcome! I’m Leslie!

My life is messy. My brain runs a million miles a minute. I do my best thinking right before I go to sleep. I’m thinking about what I am going to eat for my next meal before I’ve finished what’s in front of me. I am a Registered Nurse and  work in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. My heart beats for those tiny fighters. I’m a dancer, aerialist and Poundfit instructor in my free time(what’s that). I’m always cold – cue heated blanket and chai tea.  I wish I knew more about politics. I sing at the top of my lungs (not good I might add). I love traveling and trying new things. Jesus is my savior! My husband is a hunk and my pitbulls are my babes. This messy life is good!

As women we wear a lot of hats, and I don’t mean beanie, beret or fedora. We are challenged to be strong, courageous, loving, successful, inspiring, hardworking women, and the list goes on. So why not look good doing it! I want to create an environment that no matter where you are in your walk of life you can come here to embrace your individuality, conquer fears, create friendships across the globe, try something new with your wardrobe and be empowered to be YOU!

I have always spoken my soul through dance and fabric. I believe that if you feel good in your skin and what you are wearing, you can take on anything. In today’s world, there are so many options and ideas for what makes fashion fashionable! I’m here to share a little piece of how that makes me – me!

God placed this idea on my heart over a year ago and you know how it goes – dipping your toes is easy but fully committing to that full splash is terrifying! The thought of throwing myself out for the world to see, critique and love is so scary! I’m no expert, but what I am is just your average girl with a niche for anything that catches my eye, both to fit in and stand out.  I would love for you to join me in this new adventure, bear with me in the hard moments and celebrate with me in the good!

On top of my love for anything wonderfully worn, I’m excited to jump into this new world of blogging with you! I think about the millions of people I would love to meet and vibe with all over the world – and the easiest way to do that is to create a space to do so right here on the web! A part of me feels like I should be everywhere. So welcome! I hope you stay!

I want you to step into my life and I want to be vulnerable with you – not just someone you turn to for some okay fashion and lifestyle advice although I want to help there too! I want to be resourceful and creative in my looks, be unique and affordable, help you be a head turner and encourage you to try something you might not ever think about doing with your wardrobe!

It’s so gratifying to discover a capability as humans to fashion deep ties with people around the world.  We can find a common thread in the unique lives we all lead and search for the bigger picture together. As humans, we are able to see inside one another’s hearts. There is a deeper understanding and meaning that you find in people over your lifetime and you recognize their light because it matches your own. You were meant to cross paths. Welcome to dearKindred. A kindred can be found anywhere, at any time, and I can’t wait to be your kindred.<3

This is something brand new and a work in progress – but God has us and I’m jumping in – so I hope you enjoy this walk with Leslie!

Why would I fear the future? For I am being pursued by only your goodness & unfailing love.

Leslie, I love your blog. So inspiring. Our bible study group (your mom’s group) we need help with our attire. How do you make a cardigan, basic white blouse and dress pants fashionable? We are in a rut. Help! ❤

      Becky,

Thanks for following along! I’m glad you enjoy it. I’m already so excited for this new adventure!

My biggest advice to not have to completely revamp your wardrobe it to definitely play around with your jewelry, [statement necklaces, longline necklaces] shoes, [low heeled pumps, ballet flats, loafers] & accessories [a fun scarf, belts] to amp up your every day looks.

Cardigans can be so timeless – but make sure they are a good fit. A draped cardigan with a bold print adds a little bit of fun while still being professional. A twist on the cardigan is trying a poncho shawl – you can pair both with straight pants and boots.

For dress pants I always think straight cut or a little bootleg cut works for many body shapes. Nothing that hugs too tight. Play around with different white blouses. Ones with soft patterns, buttons, ties etc. as this can add a different element to a simple staple piece.

Also, I always think a nice sweater dress with tights and boots looks very flattering and professional as well or wrap dresses are very in style right now!

Next time you go shopping challenge yourself to buy something you would never think of wearing! I think you’ll surprise yourself!

I’ve found a few other bloggers who write their articles especially for women over fifty! And boy they have style!

Also – a few of my favorite places to look for my mom include – Nordstrom, Chicos, J. Crew, Ann Taylor, TJ Maxx

And might I add, Stitch Fix is also a great idea to check out! Personal stylist sends you items straight to your door based on your individual style!

Hope this helps! And if you have any certain pieces you need help styling please reach out!
