Dear Kindred,

Who loves a good holiday tradition? I believe Christmas traditions are such an important part of the holiday season. They help us build bonds between family generations and can be anything passed on from one to the next. Traditions tell a story about a family and gives us an identity in that. Traditions teach us where we came from and create something so special as a family.

My favorite family tradition I love, is attending Christmas Eve service. Also, My hubs and I celebrated our first Christmas as a married couple two years ago and last year the tradition of buying each other an ornament that had some sort of memory attached to it from the year before became a thing. Last year he got me a gardening ornament because of our first garden together! A tiny tradition but holds big meaning.

I asked a few of my fellow blogger friends what their favorite family tradition was and I heard about some amazing traditions that I might just have to implement this year!

Drum roll please…

Megan of Suburban Mango loves her family tradition of getting new pajamas to wear on Christmas Eve and attending Christmas Eve Service at her church.

Alena of ModaPrints loves the tradition of her and her husband driving two hours away two weeks before Christmas and cutting down their tree. “There’s nothing like dressing up like snow bunnies and hunting for a tree in the snow.” Then they head home with pizza and decorate while they watch a Christmas movie. Christmas day she loves waking up and reading the bible, telling each other what they are thankful for and their goals for the future.

Kelsey from A Balancing Peach has the tradition of going Christmas tree hunting with eggnog and brandy! Then on Christmas Eve her and her boyfriend unwrap one present with the lights off because their first year together when they traded gifts the power went out. So now, they light candles and unwrap in the candlelight!

Mary Skinner loves their tradition of going to her mom’s house with all of her sisters and making Christmas candies and cookies for hours!

Maranda of Absolutely Darling on Christmas Eve they make reindeer food with the little kids in her family. (Oatmeal and Glitter) Then they spread it all over their neighborhood in hopes “the reindeer and Santa” will see them! Santa also makes a surprise visit when they are making the reindeer food!

Here are a few other ideas!

  1. Advent Calendar
  2. Snowflake Cut-Out Competition
  3. Campout by the tree
  4. Board Games
  5. Make a New Year’s Bucket List
  6. Christmas Eve Gift Box

What’s YOUR favorite Holiday Tradition?!

P.s I wouldn’t be doing my little fashion blog any good if I didn’t tell you where my outfit is from. Head to toe in Pretty b. and this coat is seriously my favorite and such a good price! Winter layering is one of my favorite things to tie together!

May the God of Hope fill you with all Joy and Peace as you trust in him so that you may overflow with Hope by the Power of the Holy Spirit.
