Every year tends to be one to remember. If I’m being honest – this year’s celebration was a bit different. Not because I didn’t anticipate the New Year but because it is full of so many more unknowns than normal. Which made some resolutions a little harder to make. Our year is always filled with so many ups and downs, things happening out of our control (both good and not so good), good things happening without any planning, goals set along the way, and life carrying us in a different direction than we thought January 1, 2017.
I believe this year will be the takeover of the unknown so instead of making a list of resolutions I chose two words (because I couldn’t just pick one) that I want my 2018 to be. Words of being completely present and open to growth to the moment presented. I have so much faith that this year I see myself doing so much more than just existing. I see myself inhabiting so many roles and even though the steps to getting there are a bit muddled I am cheerful for a new year with great beginnings.
Intentional (adj.): performed with awareness, done deliberately, consciously or on purpose
Impact (verb) : have a strong effect on someone or something.
This idea of making an impact in life is nothing new, but it has potential to be so big. Being intentional in the pursuit of your own life is nothing new either – but together they pack a big punch. Life isn’t always easy. Life doesn’t always make sense. But making an intentional impact in your life (both giving and accepting) includes being passionate about what is happening at the moment. Creating a roadmap to navigate your life. Transformation and meeting your goals will never happen on accident, but only through intentional impact.
At my deepest level I want to have intentional impact on my every day life. To love God, to be an excellent wife, friend, colleague, blogger etc. but I want to fill the gaps of all that with intentional impact too.
In the moment I think we sometimes forget to live with intentional impact. We forget to take each day to touch base with ourselves including our mind, our body, our heart and our souls. Simply and fiercely we need to intentionally drive ourselves to where we want to be. We don’t have to have it all figured out because Lord knows I ask myself “what are you doing” about 3x a day but, what we do need to have purpose. We have the power to create vision for our life and figure out a plan to get from where we are to where we want to be. It’s not perfect but we only have one life!
Let’s make intentional impact on dedicating our life to our passions and purpose, bettering ourselves, engaging with the people around us, investing time into what can be, embracing critique, spreading what we know, uplifting others, viewing the journey as our goal. Lets do more than just exist friends – lets make an intentional impact! I want this year to be a year of many firsts, challenges, to be bold in the pursuit of the best year yet. Roald Dahl said it best, “Somewhere inside all of us is the power to change the world”. I want to make an INTENTIONAL IMPACT!
Happy New Year my friends!
Keep your minds on whatever is true, pure, right, holy, friendly & proper.
